Resumo: The present study seeks to understand the sense of freedom in the capitalist mode of production from the Marxian perspective. It is a research that rescues the relation between work and freedom, from the beginnings to the current sociability, and the importance that the sense of freedom has for the functioning of the capital system. It is perceived that the capitalist mode of production propagates that its basic characteristic is the freedom to sell in the market. However, what would be the freedom of man if his existence depends entirely on the sale of his labor power to the capitalist. The methodology used was bibliographic research.

The methodology used was bibliographic research.Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa de Alagoas - FAPEALO presente estudo busca compreender o sentido de liberdade no modo de produção capitalista a partir da perspectiva marxiana. Trata-se de uma pesquisa que resgata a relação entre trabalho e liberdade, desde os primórdios até a sociabilidade vigente, e a importância que o sentido de liberdade tem para o funcionamento do sistema do capital. Percebe-se que o modo de produção capitalista propaga que sua característica básica é a liberdade de se vender no mercado. No entanto, qual seria a liberdade do homem se sua existência depende inteiramente da venda de sua força de trabalho ao capitalista.
