Scientific and Technological Forecasting about Covid-19: analysis of pharmacological therapeutic approaches in the pandemic context

Resumo: SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) is a virus with a high spreading capacity that can cause severe pneumonia. As there is still no effective treatment recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), the present study aimed to conduct a scientific and technological forecasting, highlighting possible treatments that may be effective in combating COVID-19. The collection of articles and patents about SARS-CoV-2 was carried out using keywords in the Web of Science, SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), PubMed (Public MEDLINE) and Scopus databases and in the World Intellectual patent databases. Property Organization (WIPO), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and the European Patent Office (EPO). In prospecting, 81 articles were recorded about the treatment and no patents were deposited in the aforementioned banks, showing strong demand for treatment, despite not having registered patents, either for product or process.

Como ainda não há um tratamento efetivo recomendado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), o presente estudo realizou uma prospecção científica e tecnológica, destacando possíveis tratamentos que possam ser eficazes no combate à Covid-19. A coleta de artigos e de patentes sobre o SARS-CoV-2 foi realizada por meio de palavras-chave nos bancos Web of Science, SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), PubMed (Public MEDLINE) e Scopus e nas bases de patentes World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial (INPI) e European Patent Office (EPO).
