Gynecological and obstetric profile and prevention exam by prostitutes

Resumo: | It is a descriptive, quantitative study that aimed to identify the gynecological and obstetrical profile of prostitutes from Fortaleza-CE. The sample consisted of 81 prostitutes of Fortaleza downtown, with a structured interview about the sexual and gynecological history in October of 2005. The data was inserted in the statistical program SPSS version 11.0 and analyzed with the literature, available through statistic tables. Precocious sexual beginning was verified, between 13 and 15 years of age. The age of the first menstrual cycle was the same of the sexual beginning in 46, 9%. It was observed that 95, 1% of the women were already pregnant and 49, 4% had carried through abortion; 95, 1% had already carried out the examination to prevent female cancer, of which 51, 9% had accomplished the exam less than a year before. It was concluded that the prostitutes presented gynecological and obstetrical characteristics which were preoccupying concerning STD/Aids, breast cancer and cervical neoplasia although they had access to health services |
