The audiodrama podcast in response to a new demand for immersive listening

Resumo: This article discusses the resurgence of podcasts in recent years as a response to the growing demand from the audience for productions that allow immersion in virtual worlds. Through the analysis of the podcast Homecoming (2016-2017), which we consider an example of this new moment, we approach elements acting as vectors of immersiveness, such as the expressive potential through sound language, complex narrative and interpretation. We associate such demand and the sophisticated form of production to the contemporary moment, when new listening habits are introducing, departing from the institutionalised traditions of terrestrial radio.

A través del análisis del podcast Homecoming (2016-2017), que consideramos un ejemplo de este nuevo momento, abordamos elementos que actúan como vectores inmersivos, como el potencial expresivo a través del lenguaje sonoro, la narrativa compleja y la interpretación. Asociamos esta demanda y la forma sofisticada de producción con el momento contemporáneo, cuando emergen nuevos hábitos de escucha, alejándose de la tradición institucionalizada de la radio aérea.O presente artigo discute o ressurgimento dos podcasts nos últimos anos como uma resposta à crescente demanda da audiência por produções que permitam a imersão em mundos virtuais. Por meio da análise do podcast Homecoming (2016-2017), que consideramos um exemplo desse novo momento, abordamos elementos que agem como vetores da imersividade, como potencialidade expressiva por meio da linguagem sonora, narrativa complexa e interpretação.
