The protection and promotion of human health conditions was one of the guidelines present in the agreement signed in 1992 during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development. The year 2022 marks thirty years of this signature. In this sense, this study proposed the resumption of the health debate as a constitutive element of the theoretical-practical framework of environmental protection, from the point of view of critical environmental education. This made possible contemporary interpretations of the guideline, as well as the highlighting of epistemic turns from the Global South. Such propositions reaffirm principles and guidelines that allow us to perceive the inseparability of the environmental debate from issues of health protection and promotion.
