Resumo: In this exploratory research a comparative analysis of the requirements of the Standard NBR ISO/IEC 17025:2001 and the Standard ISO GUIDE 34:2000. This analysis also takes into account the requirements of the mutual recognition arrangements maintained by regional and international co-operations of laboratory accreditation bodies. The present study discusses the critical issues in the differences of the requirements, as well as identifies all the differences between the two documents. The differences identified were used to elaborate a questionnaire for the adequacy of a laboratory accredited to the NBR ISO/IEC 17025:2001 that produces reference materials. In order to verify which of the possible laboratories would be able to attempt the news directrix which will be proposed for the producers of material of reference in the country. The study was performed with allowed for the identification of points for improvement of the proposed model as well as provided information aiming at facilitating the implementation by division for accreditation, at the General Coordination for Accreditation of the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality

A análise considera ainda os requisitos dos acordos de reconhecimento mútuo mantidos pelas cooperações regionais e internacionais de organismos de acreditação de laboratórios. No presente estudo são discutidos os pontos críticos das diferenças nos requisitos, alem de serem identificadas todas as diferenças entre os dois documentos. As diferenças identificadas foram utilizadas para compor um questionário para determinar a situação dos laboratórios acreditados pela NBR ISO/IEC 17025:2001, que produzem materiais de referência, a fim de verificar quais os possíveis laboratórios que seriam passíveis de atenderem as novas diretrizes que serão propostas para uma acreditação de produtores de materiais de referência certificados no País.
