The objective of this article is to present an analysis of the diary of Maria Gabriela Llansol, Um Falcão no Punho (1985). Being the first diary published by the writer herself, we are interested to reflect on the experience of “Writing Diary”, as she wrote in the fragment of November 15, 1981, as a double gesture, related to form and method. Thus, considering the context of the production of Um Falcão no Punho, written during exile in Belgium,which accompanies the passage from Jodoigne to Herbais, and the writer’s project to renew the literature based on the realistic tradition, the article seeks to understand how the diary, the writing in everyday life, is crossed and incorporated as a method-technique of textual construction. For this reading, we will use the specific criticism, based on the studies of Silvina Rodrigues Lopes (1988), Pedro Eiras (2005), Maria Lúcia Wiltshire de Oliveira (2015), João Barrento (2016), among other.
