Resumo: The purpose of this article is to search for some definitions and legal concepts received by the meaning of fraternity, understood as a constitutional principle indispensable to the subsistence of a democracy of dialogue and equality, establishing them in the form of specific categories. The guiding lines of the approach were the endorsement of a normative effectiveness linked to elements of solidarity, co-responsibility, inclusion, human dignity and isonomy, concepts that, although they present similarities, deserved particular and differentiated citations due to the relevant constitutional treatment obtained. In this regard, the pragmatism of the idea of fraternity was perceived, moving away from assertions that still insist on approaching it as an illusion or an unrealizable project.

As linhas norteadoras da abordagem foram o endosso a uma eficácia normativa ligada a elementos de solidariedade, corresponsabilização, inclusão, dignidade da pessoa humana e isonomia, conceitos que, conquanto apresentem semelhanças, mereceram citações particularizadas e diferenciadas em virtude do relevante tratamento constitucional obtido.
