Resumo: In this thesis we analyze how the natural components of the Cerrado, and especially of the state of Goiás, was changed and devastated over the 20th and early 21st centuries. How this devastation harms the lives of living beings in the environment, including animals and plants. The final “funnel” was in Karajá of Aruanã (GO), and how these indigenous people resist in a place that “swallows” them every day, restricted by a Decree that legitimized a small portion of their land, surrounded by cattle, in addition to the wanderings of tourists and daily life with non-indigenous people with habits and behaviors of others. For this, we used some concepts that helped us in the endeavor, in addition to reflections, analyzes, readings, meetings, fieldwork, conversations, laughter, among other actions carried out during the PhD in Geography. Nature is often seen as something external to human beings. And no, Nature is a part of almost everything that exists in the Universe. There is "natural" and "altered" Nature. We went through the analysis and reflection of the concept of Nature, and how this word is used in the wrong way in the Universe by the human being when separating Homo sapiens from Nature, as if this specimen was not Nature. We cite technological developments to demonstrate issues related to the territorial knowledge of Planet Earth. However, we mention that technological evolution is suitable for small hegemonic groups that carry out a concentration of land and income. We reflected on the concept of territory, in addition to modernization, because with the use of these two words, we specified how the Cerrado territory was devastated due to the modernization of agriculture in the 20th century. We use the Cerrado's territorial approach as an analytical proposal. Such an approach is founded on hard facts to demonstrate the contradictions that exist in what we now call the Cerrado. We carried out an analysis of the context of the natural environments of the Cerrado, its variants pervaded especially in the 20th and early 21st centuries, and the key factor, which is the alteration of this territory by the human being, following the capitalist logic of producing goods for export. Finally, we portray the Karajá of Aruanã, human beings who lived in the territory of the Cerrado, and who still resist, even with so many extermination factors that have persisted over the centuries against their people. These indigenous people “reinvented themselves” to survive among non-indigenous people with very different customs. The word “reinvent” may seem like a marketer, but for us, it was the central point for the Karajá to survive in the municipality of Aruanã, because without this, we believe that the daily life they passed through would be increasingly strangled by foreign customs, due to tourism and the unbridled livestock that occurs in that municipality.

Submitted by Luciana Ferreira (lucgeral@gmail.com) on 2021-09-29T12:20:05Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - Bruno Augusto de Souza - 2021.pdf: 47478670 bytes, checksum: 464bc10e90ef597336fdc446abceb53b (MD5) license_rdf: 805 bytes, checksum: 4460e5956bc1d1639be9ae6146a50347 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Luciana Ferreira (lucgeral@gmail.com) on 2021-09-30T13:39:17Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - Bruno Augusto de Souza - 2021.pdf: 47478670 bytes, checksum: 464bc10e90ef597336fdc446abceb53b (MD5) license_rdf: 805 bytes, checksum: 4460e5956bc1d1639be9ae6146a50347 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-09-30T13:39:17Z (GMT).
