Resumo: The aim of this study is to present the creative potential and limitations for collaborative production mediated by wikis in education. In the context of technology, concepts and functions, the processes of collaborative production networks are discussed and the hypermedia structure is focused as the main feature of the wiki tool. We show that Moodle has built a wiki into the standard version as a tool for activities, which may be replaced by Dfwiki, with more educational resources. We conclude that the wiki tool in teaching and learning virtual environment enhances the undertaking of activities in both presence based and distance education.

Ao abordar a tecnologia, conceito e funções, problematizamos os processos de produção colaborativa em rede, apontando a estrutura hipermídia como a principal característica da ferramenta wiki. Mostramos que o Moodle tem incorporado na versão standard um wiki como ferramenta de atividade e que esta pode ser substituída pelo Dfwiki, que contém mais recursos educacionais.
