ADAPTABILITY AND YIELD STABILITY OF SOYBEAN (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) GENOTYPES UNDER GOIÁS AND DISTRITO FEDERAL CONDITIONS

Resumo: This research was proposed to evaluate the behavior of grain yield of soybean genotypes tested under Goiás and Distrito Federal conditions (1986/87 to 1988/89). The statistic procedure used was the bi-segmented linear regression. The results indicated that only 14% of genotypes didn’t have their behavior explained satisfactory by the method used. It was suggested that the identification of promising genotypes should be based on the yield average (Yi) and regression deviations variance (s²di), as a top priority. The evaluation of the coefficients of regression (adaptability - bli and b2i) is interesting if the genotype shows high yield average and stable behavior (predictability -low s2di). Then, it was indicated the outstanding genotypes in each group of maturation cycle. It was also made productive behavior analysis of genotypes used as standard check to help in their choices in future trials. KEY-WORDS: Soybean; genotype; adaptability.

Com o objetivo de subsidiar a avaliação final de cultivares de soja para Goiás e Distrito Federal, o presente trabalho propôs-se a quantificar a adaptabilidade e estabilidade no comportamento produtivo do germoplasma testado nos anos agrícolas 1986/87 a 1988/89. O método estatístico adotado baseou-se na regressão linear segmentada, que permite avaliar, separadamente, as respostas produtivas de cada genótipo em ambientes abaixo da média geral e naqueles de produtividade acima desta média. No que se refere à adoção da metodologia, pôde-se verificar que apenas 14% dos genótipos não tiveram seus comportamentos satisfatoriamente explicados pelo método, indicando um ajuste adequado aos dados de rendimento de grãos. Quanto à identificação dos genótipos com características desejáveis, sugeriu-se que os parâmetros produtividade média (Yi) e estabilidade de comportamento (s²di) fossem considerados como prioritários em relação à adaptabilidade (bli e b2i). Logo, a faixa ambiental de adaptação do genótipo só tem interesse agronômico se o genótipo apresentar elevada produtividade média e comportamento previsível (estável). Desta forma, foram indicados dentro de cada grupo de maturação (precoce, médio e tardio), os genótipos mais promissores agronomicamente. Uma avaliação crítica do comportamento produtivo dos cultivares testemunhas, foi feita visando a subsidiar essa escolha em ensaios futuros.
