Resumo: | The prompt and accurate diagnosis of foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks is crucial to curb the swift transmission of its causative agent, the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), which poses a substantial threat to the nation’s livestock. This study aimed to perform a comparative analysis of various RT-qPCR methods for the detection of FMDV. The methods evaluated for the 3D region demonstrated similar sensitivity and specificity. Nevertheless, noticeable distinctions emerged in samples with low RNA concentration. While these methods can be interchangeably utilized with consistent outcomes when handling a large number of samples sent to the laboratory to pinpoint an outbreak, minor variations may assume significance when working with a limited quantity of samples containing low FMDV RNA copies. |
