Resumo: The objective of this research was to estimate the optmal size of experimental plots for Eucalyptus saligna Smith. The experiment was conducted in Horto Forest Black Beard, located in Barra of Ribeiro – RS county. Two uniformily trials were conducted at 15 and 66 months of age. It was evaluated the variables: total height of the plants (m), diameter at breast height o (cm) and total volume (m3). The results showed that, for the method of the maximum curvature, the optmal size of the rehearsal of 66 months old for the variable height and diameter they are of 6 plants and for the variable volume it is of 7 plants. In the of 15 months old trial the optmal size was of 5 plants both variables. For the modified maximum curvature method the 66 months old trial, the optmal plots size was whe 4, 6 and 10 plants for height, diameter and volume, respectively. In the 15 months old trial the sizes were of 2 plants for height and 4 plants for diameter. For the maximum curvature methodof the function VU(x) the optmal sizes were of 2 to 3 plants to the of 15 months old trial and of less than one plant for the 15 months old trial.
