Resumo: The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of two environments, different substrate mixtures and two recipient sizes on emergence and seedling development of Hymenaea courbaril L. Two environments (full sun and environment protected with 50% black screen), four substrate mixtures [soil; soil + bovine manure (2:1); soil + sand (1:1) and soil + sand + bovine manure (1:2:1)] and two recipient sizes (11x18cm and 15x20cm plastic bags) were tested. Emergency started 20 days after sowing and prolonged till 180 days. Seed emergency reached 41% at full sun and 26% in environment protected with 50% black screen. The substrate mixture soil + sand + bovine manure (1:2:1) can be used for Hymenaea courbaril seedling production in 15x20cm plastic bags and full sun environment.

(jatobá). Avaliou-se o efeito de dois ambientes (pleno sol e ambiente protegido com tela sombrite 50%), quatro misturas de substratos [solo; solo + esterco (2:1); solo + areia (1:1); solo + areia + esterco (1:2:1)] e dois recipientes (sacos de polietileno 11x18cm e 15x20cm). A emergência das sementes do jatobá teve início aos vinte dias após semeadura e prolongou-se até 180 dias após semeadura, atingindo 41% de emergência a pleno sol e 26% em ambiente protegido com tela sombrite 50%.
