With the emergence of new technologies and the ascending dependence of the business to them, the information technology industry has achieved an enormous growth in demand for their services. Many projects of great importance and complexity are increasingly constant and challenging. For this reason, the project management is so important to the success of projects. Currently, the use of project management software has become essential for the success of projects, because it assists the user in the lifecycle of the project. The objective was to create a model database which serves as basis for creating a new project management tool. For this objective, the work resulted in a qualitative research, which consisted of a comparative analysis of software’s DotProject, NetOffice and ClockingIt, with the goal of seeking knowledge in this context to use it in the creation of the new database model. The obtained result was the creation of a database model in MySQL and the elaboration of a data dictionary with the characteristics of each object. Develop a new tool upon the model created can be advantageous by the possibility of modeling the database according the needs of the new project management tool.
