Activity, meanings and reasons: meanders in early childhood education

Resumo: How to understand the reasons why early childhood teachers have resigned their tenure in public schools? Could the concepts of activity, social and personal sense stemming from the historical-cultural theory contribute to answering this question? In order to understand this possibility, a theoretical review was made in texts by Vigotski and Leontiev, who deal with such concepts. The results obtained are presented in this article and have been proved relevant to support the development of empirical research on the voluntary exoneration of early childhood teachers in public schools. It is an investigation designed to analyze the references of such teachers about social meanings in teaching and the relevance that this activity has for them.

Podem os conceitos de atividade, significado social e sentido pessoal advindos da teoria histórico-cultural contribuir para responder a essa pergunta? Para entrever tal possibilidade realizou-se uma revisão teórica em textos de Vigotski e Leontiev, que abordam tais conceitos. Os resultados obtidos são apresentados neste artigo e se mostraram pertinentes para apoiar o desenvolvimento de pesquisa empírica sobre a exoneração voluntária de professoras da educação infantil municipal.
