Resumo: The experience of working as a nurse in a cooperative medical hospital and the daily difficulties brought about this state. We carried out qualitative research with the objective of analyzing the perception of nurses of work in a cooperative hospital, showing the limits and possibilities given the demands of these institutions. Eight nurses chosen according to criteria of exclusion, so as to avoid experiences influenced by other institutions were interviewed. Through this analysis we found that the nurses have a difficulty in defining their competencies and have little autonomy. With fear of making mistakes, they are over careful and lack initiative, awaiting institutional orders.

Efectuamos una investigación cualitativa con el objetivo de analizar cómo se sienten los enfermeros que trabajan en un hospital cooperativista, cuáles son sus límites y posibilidades frente a las exigencias de estas instituciones. Se entrevistaron a ocho enfermeros que atendieron a los criterios de exclusión propuestos para evitar la influencia de experiencias anteriores. Dentro de este análisis observamos que los enfermeros tienen problemas para definir sus competencias y poca libertad en sus acciones. Por temor a equivocarse, se vuelven cautelosos y tienen poca iniciativa, siempre a la espera de órdenes de la institución.A experiência de trabalho como enfermeira em um contexto hospitalar médico-cooperativista e as dificuldades do cotidiano estimularam a elaboração deste estudo. Desenvolvemos uma pesquisa qualitativa, tendo como objetivo analisar as percepções dos enfermeiros diante do trabalho em um hospital cooperativista e evidenciar seus limites e suas possibilidades diante das exigências dessas instituições. Foram entrevistados oito enfermeiros que atenderam aos critérios de exclusão propostos com a finalidade de evitar experiências influenciáveis de outras instituições. Nessa análise, evidenciamos que os enfermeiros possuem dificuldade em definir suas competências e têm pouca autonomia em suas ações.
