Nursing diagnoses among pregnant patients with hypertension

Summary: This is a descriptive and exploratory study that aims to assess the most frequent nursing diagnoses among pregnant patients with hypertension from a public hospital. Ten pregnant patients underwent a semi - structured interview and a physical examination. Data collection tools were based on Gordon's Functional Health Patterns. Data were analyzed, categorized and synthesized following the hypothetical-deductive model of Gordon. Thirteen diagnoses were identified. The most frequent ones were: poor knowledge about the health problem; ineffective health maintenance; ineffective management of therapeutic regimen; anxiety; disturbed sleep pattern; disturbed body image; altered sexuality patterns and fluid volume excess. These results show us the main nursing problems that pregnant women with hypertension present. It also points out the need to improve health education practices in this population.

It also points out the need to improve health education practices in this population.Estudio exploratorio descriptivo cuyo objetivo fue levantar los diagnósticos de enfermería más frecuentes en embarazadas hipertensas de un hospital escuela. La recogida de datos fue realizada con 10 embarazadas por medio del examen físico y entrevista semiestructurada usando un instrumento basado en los Patrones Funcionales de Salud de Gordon. Los datos fueron organizados y analizados según el modelo del razonamiento diagnostico hipotético-deductivo de Gordon. Entre los trece diagnósticos de enfermería identificados los más frecuentes fueron Conocimiento deficiente de su problema de salud, Manutención ineficaz de la salud, Control ineficaz del régimen terapéutico, Ansiedad, Patrón del sueño alterado, Imagen corporal perturbada, Modelo de la sexualidad alterado y Volumen excesivo de líquidos. La identificación de estos diagnósticos permitió vislumbrar los problemas de enfermería de las embarazadas hipertensas, señalando también la necesidad de aumentar la educación en salud centrada en esta clientela.Estudo descritivo e exploratório cujo objetivo foi levantar os diagnósticos de enfermagem mais frequentes em gestantes hipertensas de um hospital universitário. A coleta dos dados foi realizada com 10 gestantes por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e exame físico, utilizando-se um instrumento baseado nos Padrões Funcionais de Saúde de Gordon. Os dados foram analisados, categorizados e sintetizados seguindo-se o modelo de raciocínio diagnóstico hipotético-dedutivo de Gordon. Foram identificados 13 diagnósticos de enfermagem, sendo que, dentre eles, os mais frequentes foram "Conhecimento deficiente sobre seu problema de saúde"; "Manutenção ineficaz da saúde"; "Controle ineficaz do regime terapêutico"; "Ansiedade"; "Padrão de sono perturbado"; "Imagem corporal perturbada"; "Padrão de sexualidade alterado"; e "Volume excessivo de líquidos".
