Education about mental health and psychiatry in technical nursing courses

Resumo: This study aims to analyze the education about Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing during the Technical Nursing Course and to evaluate its connection to the ideas of the Psychiatric Reform, based on a historical and dialectical materialism. The participants of study were nurse professors of the discipline and coordinators of the course. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview, a form and the curriculum structure of the course. Results show there is an alienation of the teaching work. Although the preventative and biological approach predominated, there were overcoming attempts with the insertion of subjects about the Psychiatric Reform and supervised internships in Centers of Psychosocial Attention.

Las personas elegidas fueron enfermeros-profesores de dicha materia y los coordinadores del curso, teniendo como instrumento la entrevista semiestructurada, el formulario y las estructuras curriculares del curso.Los datos recogidos apuntaron a una alienación del trabajo educativo. A pesar del predominio del enfoque previcionista y biológico, hubo intentos de superación con la introducción de temáticas sobre la Reforma Psiquiátrica y pasantías supervisadas en los Centros de Atención Psicosocial.Com este estudo, objetivou-se analisar o ensino da disciplina de Enfermagem Psiquiátrica e Saúde Mental no Ensino Técnico de Enfermagem e a sua relação com os ideários da Reforma Psiquiátrica, embasado no materialismo históricodialético. Os sujeitos escolhidos foram enfermeiros-professores da referida disciplina e os coordenadores do curso, tendo como instrumentos a entrevista semiestruturada, o formulário e as estruturas curriculares do curso. Os dados coletados apontaram para uma alienação do trabalho educativo.
