EPISTEMOLOGICAL BASIS AND PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES FOR TEACHING SPORT: A STUDY WITH TEACHERS FROM SOUTH BRAZIL

Resumo: This study aimed to identify teachers' epistemological, methodological, content organization and class control preferences for teaching sport at school. The association between sport teaching methods (STM) and epistemological bases (EB) was also verified. A quantitative, descriptive and analytical research was carried out, with a cross-sectional design. Fifty teachers from public and private schools in the city of Pelotas-RS participated in the study by answering a questionnaire. Teachers showed strong interactionist EB (72%), a sensitive preference for emerging STM (52%) and prefer to share control of the class with students (74%). The sport must be taught from technique to 1/3 of the teachers. Teachers with a preference for traditional STM tend to show strong empiricist EB, a tendency opposite to that of teachers who use emerging STM (p=0.009). The didactic-pedagogical alignment of sports content requires greater attention in future teaching training.

También se verificó la asociación entre métodos de enseñanza deportiva (MED) y bases epistemológicas (BE). Se realizó una investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva y analítica, con un diseño transversal. Cincuenta profesores de escuelas públicas y privadas de la ciudad de Pelotas-RS participaron del estudio respondiendo un cuestionario. Los profesores mostraron un fuerte BE interaccionista (72%), una preferencia sensible por el MED emergente (52%) y prefieren compartir el control de la clase con los estudiantes (74%). El deporte deberá impartirse desde la técnica a 1/3 de los profesores. Los docentes con preferencia por el MED tradicional tienden a mostrar un BE empirista fuerte, una tendencia opuesta a la de los docentes que utilizan el MED emergente (p=0,009). La alineación didáctico-pedagógica de los contenidos deportivos requiere una mayor atención en la futura formación docente.Este estudo buscou identificar as preferências epistemológicas, metodológicas, de organização de conteúdo e de controle da aula dos professores para o ensino do esporte na escola. Também foi verificada a associação entre os métodos de ensino do esporte (MEE) e as bases epistemológicas (BE). Foi realizada uma pesquisa de abordagem quantitativa, descritiva e analítica, com delineamento transversal. Cinquenta professores das redes pública e privada da cidade de Pelotas-RS participaram do estudo respondendo um questionário. Os professores apresentaram forte BE interacionista (72%), sensível preferência pelos MEE emergentes (52%) e preferem dividir o controle da aula com os alunos (74%). O esporte deve ser ensinado a partir da técnica para 1/3 dos professores.  Os docentes com preferência nos MEE tradicionais tendem a apresentar forte BE empirista, tendência oposta à dos docentes que utilizam os MEE emergentes (p=0,009).
