Introduction: The world's population aging has occurred quickly and intensely and in Brazil this age group has grown quite significantly, given that it is necessary to pay attention to the health conditions of the elderly. In this aging process, the elderly become vulnerable and may be affected by some factors aggravating their health, such as fragility and dementia. Objective: To identify the prevalence of frailty related to cognitive deficit in community-dwelling elderly. Methods: This is a descriptive and quantitative cross-sectional study with 100 elderly people from a municipality in northern Mato Grosso, the data collection was divided into four stages: 1. Socio-demographic and epidemiological conditions; 2. Assessment of Fragility; 3. Application of Mini Mental; 4. Evaluation of comorbidities. Results and discussion: It was noted that 24% of the elderly were frail with a predominance of females, it was identified that most participants did not show changes in cognitive deficit and the relationship between frailty and dementia was not very significant. On the other hand, we had significant results regarding the relationship between frailty and comorbidities such as: arterial hypertension, urinary incontinence and constipation. Conclusion: it is concluded that it was possible to identify that the female sex is more vulnerable to the development of Fragility and cognitive deficit. In addition, we identified the low relationship between frailty and cognitive status, which may have been due to the sample profile, being from the community's elderly, who still have a certain degree of physical independence when compared to research conducted with institutionalized or hospitalized elderly.
