A Floresta Amazônica devido a sua grande importância econômica e ecológica ganhou destaque mundial, dessa forma o manejo florestal sustentável tornou-se foco na comunidade cientifica, visando o desenvolvimento econômico, social e ambiental. A análise da viabilidade econômica do manejo florestal é uma importante ferramenta, que visa determinar o lucro do manejo florestal sobre o recurso floresta, para produção de madeira sob técnicas de manejo florestal sustentável. Assim, o objetivo do estudo foi aferir sobre a viabilidade econômica da atividade de exploração florestal em um plano de manejo florestal sustentável, em área pertencente à Fazenda São Pedro na cidade de Nova Monte Verde, Mato Grosso, Brasil. Sendo assim, para determinar a viabilidade econômica utilizou-se o método da Razão Receita/Custo. Sendo que a atividade de exploração foi viável economicamente, pois apresentou a Razão Receita/Custo de R$ 1,70. Nesse sentido, considerando os custos administrativos e exploratórios, o lucro líquido total foi de R$ 560.405,51 (41,33%) gerando, em média, R$ 71,60 de lucro líquido por m³. Palavra-chave: floresta tropical, viabilidade técnica, projetos florestais.   INCOME/COST OF FORESTRY EXPLORATION ACTIVITY IN A SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT PLAN IN AMAZONIA – CASE STUDY   ABSTRACT The Amazon rainforest due to its great economic and ecological importance gained worldwide prominence thus sustainable forest management has become the focus in the scientific community, targeting economic, social and environmental development. The analysis of the economic viability of forest management is an important tool, which aims to determine the income of forest management on the forest resource for timber production under sustainable forest management techniques. The objective of the study was to assess the economic viability of the activity logging on a plan for sustainable forest management in the area belonging to the Hacienda San Pedro in Nova Monte Verde city, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. Thus, to determine the economic viability we used the method of Reason Income / Cost. The exploration activity was economically viable as presented Reason Income / Cost at R$ 1.70. Thus, considering the administrative and exploration costs, the total net income was at R$ 560,405.51 (41.33%) generating, on average, R$ 71.60 net profit per m³.
