Resumo: A busca por práticas empresariais sustentáveis, não raro, encontra barreiras no próprio entendimento do conceito de sustentabilidade, na correta identificação da legislação a ser cumprida e na adoção das ferramentas voluntárias certificáveis. Nesse contexto e com base nas diretrizes da Portaria INMETRO nº 317, de 19 de junho de 2012, este estudo visa delinear, de forma prática e com embasamento técnico e legal, a sustentabilidade a ser almejada pelos empreendimentos em geral, apontar os requisitos legais a serem cumpridos por estes empreendimentos e, por fim, indicar os requisitos voluntários certificáveis a serem adotados por empreendimentos que pretendam atestar, de forma isenta e independente, que suas ações são sustentáveis. Adicionalmente, o estudo pretende ainda apresentar os benefícios previstos na legislação para as empresas que adotem ações sustentáveis.
