Resumo: Objective: To study the perception of ostomate individuals regarding his/her situation. Methods: It was a research of a qualitative approach held in the month of September, 2006, with the participants of the Ostomate Attention Group from the University of Campanha Region (URCAMP), at Bagé municipality, Brazil. The data collection was conducted by means of an individual non-structured interview with guiding questions, such as: at to what extension the subject possesses a perception of his/her state as an ostomate patient and what are the subjective manifestations regarding his/her actual state. The reports were analyzed through the discourse analysis method. Results: The emerging categories were: adaptation, resignation and affective bond. During the analysis, rage and suffer sporadic manifestations appeared, but did not get to be considered as categories. It was perceived that family support is a determinant factor for the acceptance of the new reality. The study contributed to the knowledge of the ostomates’ subjectivity, opening possibilities for the improvement of the health attention rendered by the multi-professional team. Final considerations: The perception of the ostomate individual regarding his/her situation varies from adaptation to resignation. The importance of family support in his/her actual situation is also pointed out. NCT00673413

NCT00673413Objetivo: Pesquisar a percepção e as manifestações subjetivas de indivíduos estomizados quanto a sua situação. Métodos: Tratou-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa realizada no mês de setembro de 2006, com participantes do Grupo de Atenção aos Estomizados da Universidade da Região da Campanha (URCAMP) no município de Bagé, Brasil. A coleta de dados deu-se por meio de entrevista não estruturada e individual com questões norteadoras, tais como: até que ponto o sujeito possui a percepção de seu estado como paciente estomizado e quais são as manifestações subjetivas em relação ao seu estado atual. Os relatos foram analisados através do método de análise de discurso. Resultados: As categorias emergentes foram: adaptação, resignação e vínculo afetivo. Durante a análise surgiram manifestações esporádicas de raiva e sofrimento que não chegaram a ser consideradas como categorias. Percebeu-se que o apoio familiar é fator determinante para a aceitação da nova realidade. O estudo contribuiu para conhecer a subjetividade do estomizado, abrindo possibilidades para melhorar a atenção à saúde pela equipe multiprofissional. Considerações finais: a percepção do indivíduo estomizado quanto à sua situação varia de adaptação à resignação. Ressalta-se ainda a importância do apoio familiar em sua situação atual.
