Resumo: The study aimed at investigating the user’s knowledge about vaccination. It was a descriptive study with 60 users attended at the 4 selected health centers. Data was collected by means of an interview. The sample of users interviewed consisted predominately of women varying from 20 to 29 years of age, the majority of them being occupied as housewives. Nearly 40% of them received information about vaccination from nurse assistants. However, their knowledge about vaccination (indications, counter-indications, scheme and vaccine reactions) was elementary and fragmented. It is therefore suggested that health education strategies be implemented to increase the clientele’s awareness of this matter, thus inspiring behavior changes in relation to health promotion.
