Resumo: Studies on regional authors based on the presuppositions of Lexicology, Dialectology, Sociolinguistics and Ethnolinguistics show that there is an inseparability between language, society and culture. It is in this sense that we focus on the novels of the writer Gilvan Lemos, author from Pernambuco who wrote about what he knew, lived and knew. In his works there is the presence of the regional-popular lexicon and, specifically, in the speeches of his characters, the regional identity marks and the vocabulary richness that characterize the talk of his people. We chose as main objective of this research the construction of a glossary of the best evaluated novels by its readers and critics We start from the hypothesis that his culture and his linguistic knowledge about his people led him to conceive characters whose lines could represent the Northeastern speaking, the society as he knew it and the culture of the people with whom he lived. We argue that the best way to demonstrate the value of his works is through a glossary of O Anjo do Quarto Dia and Emissários do Diabo. For the construction of this, we assume the precepts of Lexicography and get together, based on Pottier et alii (1973), simple, compound, complex and textual lexias employed by characters of different social levels, sex, age, schooling and profession, according to the recognition that the society represented in the works is stratified, attest to the social and ethnolinguistic teachings of Coseriu, for whom language is divided into system, norm and speech. We take, therefore, as belonging to the regional speech the lines of the characters created by the author. In the search for the identification of the most appropriate meanings for the articles we conceive in the glossary, we consult regional and language dictionaries and check the lexical units' dictionalization, in order to evaluate what belongs or not to the regional norm, what belongs or not to the system and what consists in author's creation. Reinforce our discussions on regional lexicon and on the relations between language, society and culture the precepts of Aragão (2005, 1999, 1983), Biderman (2001a, 1987), Bortoni-Ricardo (2009), Preti (2003), Calvet (2002), Barbosa (2001, 1993) and Cardoso (2010, 2001). Our lexicographical lexical work further demonstrates the teachings of Haensch et alii (1982), Biderman (2001b) and Faustich (2010). About Gilvan Lemos and his people, we followed Jamir and Silva (2006), Freyre (1982, 1969) and Correa (2017). We conclude that the language of the people in the gilvanian novel, from the lexical point of view, is the language of that people created in their works, whose stories happen in places that represent the native land of the author and its surroundings, but does not necessarily correspond to the real norm that place. It is a creation that draws the reality, based on the subjectivity of the author.

It is a creation that draws the reality, based on the subjectivity of the author.
