Resumo: Currently in Brazil there are diverses Geodesic Reference Systems (GRS) in the process of cartographic production. Furthermore, different reference systems coexist in the Brazilian National Cartographic System. Based on goals stated in the Geodetic Reference Change Project, the Brazilian National Mapping Agency, (IBGE - Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica), promotes the adoption of the new geodetic reference system denoted by SIRGAS2000 (Geocentric Reference System for the Americas, in its accomplishment of year 2000). SIRGAS 2000 is a geocentric system, and it has to be compatible to modern positioning technologies. Due to the implementation of SIRGAS2000, a great amount of cartographic documents, currently in use, will have to be converted to the new reference system. Geodetic literature offers methods for transforming among Geodetic Reference Systems. Although there are officially accepted models and transformation parameters, given by IBGE to be used in Brazilian Geodesic System, not all possible transformation needs are covered. This work presents the evaluation of five bidimensional transformation models to be applied to cartographic bases in such a way to produce the reference change, as an alternative method to the classic method.

This work presents the evaluation of five bidimensional transformation models to be applied to cartographic bases in such a way to produce the reference change, as an alternative method to the classic method.
