Evolution of the determinants of partidarism in Latin America

Resumo: | In continuity with the research agenda, we have undertaken an analysis of the evolution of voters' relationship with political parties in Latin American democracies, so that this article aims to analyze, in a comparative perspective, the determinants of partisanship in countries that fit in different categories in terms of party roots: Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and Chile. To do so, we used the Barometer of the Americas databases for the period between 2006 and 2016/7, whose results indicate the uniform decline in identification with political parties in the last wave, the relevance of interest for politics and the age groups of individuals to the manifestation of partisanship and relative indifferentiation between the profiles identified with the main legends of the national party systems, with the exception of the Uruguayan case. |

Para ello, utilizamos las bases de datos Barometer of the Americas para el período comprendido entre 2006 y 2016/7, cuyos resultados indican la disminución uniforme en la identificación con los partidos políticos en la última ola, la relevancia del interés para la política y los grupos de edad de los individuos a la manifestación de partidismo y relativa indiferenciación entre los perfiles identificados con las principales leyendas de los sistemas de partidos nacionales, a excepción del caso uruguayo.Em continuidade à agenda de investigações, empreendemos uma análise acerca da evolução do relacionamento dos eleitores com os partidos políticos nas democracias latino-americanas, de modo que este artigo tem como objetivo analisar, em perspectiva comparada, os determinantes do partidarismo em países que se enquadram em distintas categorias em termos de enraizamento partidário: Uruguai, Argentina, Brasil e Chile.
