Resumo: The study investigates the consumption of information into two subjects from ophthalmology, keratoconus and cataract extraction. A bibliometric and descriptive analysis was carried out and indicators of consumption of information were applied, ie, Price index, half life and obsolescence. The analyzed data contained articles indexed by SciELO Brazil, from 2006 to 2010. The results indicate a moderate type of aging for both subjects. However, keratoconus showed a decline on the use of information higher than that observed to cataract extraction.
