Resumo: The proposal of this paper is to addresses memories related to the School of Education of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, an educational institution which is, for more than four decades, responsible for teacher training. The research falls within the field of History of Education in its interfaces with History of Educational Institutions. It highlights narratives of oral memory as documents and, in addition, press reports widely circulated, meeting minutes and outreaching projects which, when articulated, make up the empirical corpus of this investigation. The 1980s were problematized by the analysis of the turning process undertaken at the School in its interface with the political context lived in the country.

Privilegiaram-se narrativas de memória oral como documentos e, para além, notícias veiculadas pela imprensa de grande circulação, atas de reuniões, projetos de extensão que, articulados, compõem o corpus empírico desta investigação.
