Resumo: This article is the result of an ethnographic research with women and men incarcerated in the Federal District, Brazil. Its aim is to analyze the different forms of violence experienced by these people in the prison establishments of the Capital city, Brasília. We will see that moral aggression, translated as the perception of disrespect and denial of dignity, appears as the focal point of the distress experienced by these women and men. The analysis of the treatment received by imprisoned people contributes, moreover, to the study of the different dimensions of citizenship and conceptions of equality in Brazil.

Pretendo analisar as diferentes formas de violência vividas por essas pessoas dentro dos estabelecimentos prisionais da capital do país. Veremos que a agressão moral, traduzida pela percepção de desrespeito e desconsideração à dignidade, aparece como o cerne do sofrimento vivido por essas mulheres e homens.
