Resumo: The leaf area is important for the plants, because through the photosynthesis carried out on the leaves, the transformation of light energy into chemical energy takes place. Reduction of leaf area interferes with normal plant metabolism, as well as fruit yield and quality. The present work aimed to develop software using digital image processing techniques (PDI) to quantify the photosynthetic loss in the leaves from their digital image. For the production of digital images 250 leaves of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L. var nanum) were collected. The PDI algorithms developed during the work resulted in PLANTARES-foliar diagenosis, the result of this work, was developed and allowed the images and the results of the foliar analyzes to be saved, allowing for future consultations and analyzes. These analyzes may be used to define preventive actions of a nutritional and / or phytosanitary nature more appropriate to the management of agricultural crops in the field.

A redução da área foliar interfere no metabolismo normal da planta, bem como, na produção e qualidade dos frutos. O presente trabalho objetivou desenvolver um software utilizando técnicas de processamento digital de imagens (PDI) para quantificar a perda fotossintética nas folhas a partir da sua imagem digital. Para produção das imagens digitais foram coletadas 250 folhas de cajueiro (Anacardium occidentale L. var nanum). Os algoritmos de PDI desenvolvidos durante o trabalho tiveram como resultado o PLANTARES-diagonose foliar, resultado deste trabalho, foi desenvolvido e possibilitou que as imagens e os resultados das análises foliares fossem salvos, permitindo consultas e análises futuras.
