Resumo: The industrial society, characterized by traditional factors of production, was replaced by the knowledge society. The material resources of the organization have relative importance, but the vital resource for the positive development in the market is knowledge. Knowledge management has become an essential tool for providing competitive advantage for companies. Facing a market with fierce competition, micro and small enterprises play an important role because they easily adapt to different situations, and the ability to generate income. Hence the need to check the processes of acquisition, conversion and use of knowledge in the MSE. The present study can be characterized as exploratory and quantitative, in which the instrument was applied to the workers of small and micro enterprises, with 150 respondents. The research showed that the conversion process of knowledge is better perceived by people with higher education. Knowledge management variables and their acquisition, conversion and utilization are perceived by people who receive higher wages.
