Resumo: The main objective of this research is to understand how the relationship between Academia Sergipana de Letras and the Civil-Military Dictatorship in Brazil (1964-1985) took place, based on the life experience and cultural, political and social performance of some of its members. members. Our interest was focused on analyzing and understanding how subjects, such as the bachelor and current president of that sodalicio José Anderson Nascimento, the former governor and also an ASL member, Seixas Dória, and the propriá bishop, Dom Brandão, experienced that difficult moment of the country's political and social life. It is worth mentioning that despite the advances in studies on this subject, there are still issues that need to be discussed and analyzed, especially with regard to the Sergipano cultural scene during this period, since most works focus on issues related to state policy. For this reason, it is essential to analyze facts that are still unknown to the society of Sergipe today, because understanding the history and trajectory of struggle of some Sergipe intellectuals, in addition to contributing to the preservation of the memory of our state, is fundamental for the formation of an identity cultural and social and political awareness. For the development of the work we used several sources, both oral and written. The work of Sergipe historian and political scientist Ibarê Dantas was of fundamental relevance for understanding important elements regarding the military regime in the Sergipe context. In addition to this work, we used works by historians such as Carlos Fico, Marcos Napolitano and journalist Elio Gaspari. We also used oral sources through an interview with the academic and current president of ASL José Anderson do Nascimento, their experiences were of great importance for the enrichment of this work. As a theoretical contribution our work used as a base the ideas developed by Roger Chartier (1988), Michel Pollak (1989), Paul Thompson (1992), Pierre Nora (1993), Norberto Bobbio (1955), among other relevant authors.
