In exploration and production of oil and gas activities most of the reserves are formed naturally by water, oil, gas, impurities and contaminants. During this process of exploration and production of these reserves are produced high amounts of contaminated water (produced water) considered that waste or, in later processes, are separated from the oil and gas processed in processing units and conditioned for disposal, reuse or reinjection into reservoirs. In Sergipe there is a high produced water extraction, because most farm fields are considered mature fields, which are explored reserves for some time and is already proven that over the operating time the production of oil and gas is inversely proportional to the produced water generation. In the state Sergipe numerous companies exporting and producing oil, gas and water, where fraction of this current (oil and water/oil emulsion) it is passed on to the only company that performs the processing of that chain, Petrobras (Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.).
