Redes feministas transnacionais na América Latina : novos caminhos para a conexão regional

Transnational feminism emerged as a critical alternative to global-international feminism and its attempts to unify the movement. Despite having their theoretical representations introduced in North America and Europe, most studies come from commonly marginalized regions, such as Latin America. Factors such as ethnicity, gender, race, sexuality, and location are not discarded in this new perspective, becoming essential elements of the analysis. At the same time, theory and activism meet, represented through transnational feminist networks that bring together women from different countries with common goals. Nevertheless, even if the expression of organizations and movements are evident, the theme is still little explored in the International Relations academy. For this reason, this study aims to synthesize the main theoretical contributions developed on transnational feminism and to identify the main transnational feminist networks in Latin America, observing their impact on promoting a renewed regional connection. The role of the “Rede de Educação Popular entre Mulheres da América Latina e Caribe” (REPEM LAC), that has worked for 40 years in the region promoting a popular feminist education, will be highlighted. Such activities will be considered tools for social transformation and the consolidation of more inclusive dialogues.
