MODERNIDADE E VANGUARDA EM MALLARMÉ: MODERNITY AND VANGUARD IN MALLARMÉ

RESUMO: Os termos “moderno” e “vanguarda” percorreram longos caminhos até se encontrarem – e mesmo se entrecruzarem – em meados do século XIX. De acordo com Calinescu, a aliança da modernidade com o tempo, unida à duradoura confiança no progresso, resultou no mito de uma vanguarda autoconsciente e heroica na luta pelo futuro. Adiantando em vinte anos aquele que ficou conhecido como o movimento simbolista, precursor das vanguardas do século XX, Stéphane Mallarmé deu continuidade ao trabalho de Charles Baudelaire e por diversas vezes se mostrou um artista avant la lettre. Este trabalho tem o intuito de pensar de que maneira o poeta Stéphane Mallarmé se fez, ao mesmo tempo, filho da modernidade e patriarca da primeira vanguarda, ainda que não aceitasse o título de bom grado. Para tanto, elaboramos uma introdução abordando os conceitos de “modernidade” e “vanguarda”, valendo-nos das obras de Matei Calinescu, Hans Robert Jauss e Octávio Paz; um estudo acerca da obra do poeta e da colaboração oferecida pela estética mallarmeana às vanguardas do século XIX e XX, partindo de uma de suas obras iniciais Hérodiade – e chegando ao famigerado Un coup de dés, iniciador do poema-tipográfico. Poesia moderna.   ABSTRACT: The concepts of “modern” and “vanguard” traveled long ways to meet – and even merge in the mid-nineteenth century. According to Calinescu, the alliance of modernity with time, united with lasting confidence in progress, resulted in the myth of a self-conscious and heroic vanguard in the fight for the future. Ahead in twenty years who became known as the symbolist movement and precursor of the vanguards of the twentieth century, Stéphane Mallarmé continued the work of Charles Baudelaire and several times showed to be an artist avant la lettre. This work aims to think how the poet Stephane Mallarmé was made at the same time, the son of modernity and the first avant-garde patriarch, although didn’t accept the title gladly. Therefore, we developed an introduction addressing the concepts of “modernity” and “vanguard”, drawing on the works of Matei Calinescu, Hans Robert Jauss and Octavio Paz; a study on the work of the poet and his collaboration to the aesthetic vanguards of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, from one of his early works – Hérodiade – and reaching the renowed Un coup de dés, initiator of the poem-typographic.
