Resumo: RESUMO: O propósito do artigo é a leitura, tanto da linguagem verbal, quanto da linguagem visual, de um folheto de cordel de autoria da poetisa Josenir Lacerda, tendo como fundamentação teórica os textos “Retórica da imagem”, de Roland Barthes, e “Retórica da imagem publicitária”, de Jacques Durand. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Leitura verbo-visual. Literatura de cordel. Xilogravura.        ABSTRACT: The purpose of the article is read, both verbal language, the visual language, a brochure of string authored by poet Josenir Lacerda, with the theoretical foundation texts "Image rhetoric" by Roland Barthes, and "Rhetoric of image advertising" by Jacques Durand.
