Resumo: We have two ways we can interpret the term genealogy: tracing our family origins and tracing our historical-political origins. The symbolic value of any genealogy does not revolve around the debt we have contracted with previous generations of women; such a term would make it tantamount to credit and then we would be mired in the world of economic exchange. In reality, genealogy is something born of a kind of acknowledgement that perhaps we could call ‘renewed awareness’, or in other terms a way to reinvent the knowledge passed down to us by previous women and make it our own. In this sense it means finding, in the philosophical thought and the lives of those who came before us, something which somehow belongs to us but we were unaware of: we didn’t have the right words to recognize it with. This creates a symbolic circle of genealogy, which isn’t the result of an act of will that would deliberately lead us into the sphere of genealogy. It’s rather the insight that there is something true that concerns us in women who have gone before us and, above all, that by understanding this about ourselves sets us in motion and transforms our lives. This forms the roots of women’s politics.

This forms the roots of women’s politics.Con base en una metodología filosófico-narrativa, este artículo procura articular en, todos sus aspectos, el concepto de genealogía, así como emergió en el debate feminista francés e italiano a partir de los años 80. Dispondemos de dos maneras de interpretar el término genealogía: la genealogía familiar y la genealogía histórico-política. El valor simbólico de cualquier genealogía no depende de la deuda que contraemos con las generaciones anteriores de mujeres. Si fuera así, la deuda sería equivalente al crédito y seríamos sólo en el orden del intercambio económico. Más bien, la genealogía surge del reconocimiento, de algo que podríamos interpretar como "conocimientos renovados", es decir, una forma de reinventar los saberes que nos vienen de las mujeres anteriores y hacerlos propios. En este sentido, significa conocer, en el pensamiento y en la vida de aquellas que vinieron antes de nosotras, algo que de alguna manera nos pertenece, aunque no lo sabíamos, porque no teníamos las palabras que nos permitiesen de reconocerlo. Esto crea un círculo simbólico de la genealogía, que no es el resultado de un acto de voluntad, que intencionalmente nos pone en la esfera de la genealogía. Pero es la intuición de que hay algo de verdadero, que tiene que ver con nosotras, en las mujeres que nos han precedido y, sobre todo, que entender esto acerca de nosotras mismas, nos pone en movimiento y transforma nuestras vidas. Esto da raíces a la política de las mujeres.Com base em uma metodologia filosófico-narrativa, este artigo visa articular em todos seus aspectos o conceito de genealogia, assim como emergiu no debate feminista francês e italiano a partir dos anos 80 do 1900. Em particular, temos duas maneiras de interpretar o termo genealogia: a genealogia familiar e a genealogia histórico-política. O valor simbólico de qualquer genealogia não depende da dívida que contraímos com gerações anteriores de mulheres. Se fosse assim, a dívida seria o equivalente do crédito e estaríamos somente no mundo da troca econômica. Na realidade, a genealogia nasce de reconhecimento, de algo que talvez possamos interpretar como "conhecimento renovado", ou seja, uma maneira de reinventar os saberes que nos transmitiram as mulheres anteriores a nós e torná-los nossos. Nesse sentido, significa encontrar, no pensamento e na vida daquelas que vieram antes de nós, algo que de algum modo nos pertence, sem que o soubéssemos, porque não tínhamos as palavras que nos permitissem reconhecê-lo. Isso cria um círculo simbólico da genealogia, que não é o resultado de um ato de vontade, que intencionalmente nos coloca na esfera da genealogia. Mas é a intuição de que há algo de verdadeiro, que tem a ver conosco, nas mulheres que nos precederam e, sobretudo, de que entender isso sobre nós mesmas, nos coloca em movimento e transforma nossas vidas.
