Work organization in hospital nursing: literature review approach

Resumo: The objective of this study was to analyze aspects of work organization in hospital nursing and its articulations with care, by means of an integrative review. A total of 25 studies were identified, from the period between 2000 and 2009. Based on the understanding of the work organization and its application in nursing, the following analytical categories were structured: conceptual and theoretical aspects, personnel management, care management, technologies, hospital accreditation, planning and material resources management. The literature evidenced the complexity of this work organization theme and the importance of studies on its application in nursing. The analysis of the publications points to the need to rethink work organization in such a way as to build less wearing and quality work alternatives, assuring the safety of both the user and the worker.
