“He is the true youthfulness” – discursive representations of the theme “youth” in the Pope Francisco’s Christus Vivit exhortation

In this research, we analyzed discursive representations of the theme “youth” in the post-synodal apostolic exhortation Christus Vivit. For that purpose, we are theoretically affiliated in the Textual Analysis of Discourses postulated by Jean-Michel Adam (2010, 2011, 2019), especially supported by the level 6, which deal with the notion of discursive representation. In the discursive representations’ analysis of the theme "youth", we used the semantic categories designated as referenciation, predication, aspectualization, connection and spatial-temporal location of Rodrigues, Passeggi and Silva Neto (2010) and Queiroz (2013). The results show the construction of youth as a natural period of human life’s progression, which grants the realization of other representations, such as: sincerity, subservience, simplicity and humility, audacity and generosity. Finally, we also noted the schematization of youth representations as the ability to accept contradictory opinions, Jesus as the real youth Itself, and youth as a bridge that gives access to an institutional reform intended by Pope Francis.
