Resumo: Approximately thirty years after the end of the ban on women's football in Brazil, it is possible to observe affirmative actions by sports entities and advances towards the democratization of the sport. However, there are research gaps regarding the practice scenario, especially at a high competitive level. The objective of this study was to geographically map the birthplaces of the players participating in the A1 Series of the 2021 Brazilian Championship, linked to the Human Development Index of Municipalities (HDIM) of the five Brazilian regions. The approach was descriptive-exploratory and occurred from the name, city and state of birth of the players, grouped by region, from contemporary primary sources. The geographic origin of the teams participating in all editions of the A1 Series of the Brazilian Championship since its first edition in 2013 were also analyzed. The results point to a predominance of the Southeast, the most populous, richest region and owner of the highest IDHM in the country, a scenario similar to other Brazilian sports.
