Resumo: | The research has as objective to verify the Direction of Art role as images and sounds sense maker inside the cinematographic set, by the analysis of two aspects: Costumes and Photography, in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha, directed by Rob Marshall. The text begins by dealing with theoretical referential that support the research, by conceptualizing topics as new oral language, culture, literature adaption for video, verbal and non-verbal language. It also deals with the definitions of two aspects of direction of art studied and the characteristics of geisha culture. After that, it analyses four strong moments of the protagonist’s life. |

Inicia-se o texto tratando de referenciais teóricos que fundamentam a pesquisa, conceituando tópicos como nova linguagem oral, cultura, adaptação de literatura para vídeo, linguagem verbal e não verbal. O artigo também trata de definições dos dois aspectos de direção de arte estudados e características da cultura das gueixas. Em seguida, faz-se a análise de quatro momentos intensos da vida da protagonista.
