A região sul do país, é a maior produtor de carne suína do país, destacando-se principalmente o estado de Santa Catarina, que é responsável por grande parte das exportações, sobressaindo-se no agronegócio mundial. As pleurites são causas frequentes de desvios na linha de abate, responsáveis por grandes prejuízos econômicos tanto no campo quanto na indústria. Essas aderências são ocasionadas através de processos inflamatórios graves que acomete principalmente pulmão, no entanto, dependendo se sua gravidade pode acometer outros órgãos da cavidade torácica e migrar para a região abdominal. A pasteurelose é uma infecção pneumônica que cursa com aderências de pleura causada pela Pasteurella multocida, muitas vezes atua como agente oportunista, agravando os processos infecciosos primários com o aumento da extensão das lesões pulmonares, como no caso da infecção por Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, sendo sua associação mais comum. No entanto já é comprovado a capacidade da Pasteurella multocida atuar como agente primário e ocasionar pleuropneumonia graves a partir de cepas virulentas. Tendo em vista a severidade da presença do agente no rebanho, faz-se necessário a utilização de medidas profiláticas preventivas e métodos de controles eficientes a partir de vacinação e antibioticoterapia.Pig farming have a great socioeconomic importance in Brazil and is constantly developing. The southern region of the country is the largest pork producer, especially the state of Santa Catarina, which is responsible for a huge number of exports, standing out in the agribusiness world. Pleuritis is a frequent cause of deviations in the slaughter line, responsible for many economic losses both in field and industry. These adhesions are caused by severe inflammatory processes that affect mainly the lungs, however, depending on its severity, it can affect other organs of the thoracic cavity and migrate to the abdominal region. Pasteurellosis is a pneumonic infection that advances with pleural adhesions caused by Pasteurella multocida, often acting as an opportunistic agent, aggravating the primary infectious processes incresing the extent of lung lesions, such as Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection, which is the most common variant. However, the ability of Pasteurella multocida to act as a primary agent, causing severe pleuropneumonia from virulent strains is already proven.
