A presença de perda auditiva traz diversas consequências negativas para a qualidade de vida dos indivíduos e nestes casos as próteses auditivas acabam tornando-se fortes aliados para minimizar os impactos que a perda auditiva causa na vida dos idosos. O processo de seleção e adaptação das próteses auditivas são fundamentais para garantir aos usuários o melhor uso possível do seu resíduo auditivo. Com isso, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo caracterizar o processo de seleção e adaptação de prótese auditiva de idosos quanto à verificação e validação dos resultados. Trata-se de um estudodescritivo, observacional, retrospectivo, transversal, no qual foram analisados os prontuários de 35 idosos usuários de próteses auditivas atendidos no Programa de Atenção à Saúde Auditiva. O estudo foi realizado no Laboratório de Estudos da Voz e Audição do Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Foram incluídos na pesquisa idosos com idade entre 60 e 80 anos portadores de perda auditiva neurossensorial de grau leve a moderadamente severo bilateralmente, usuários de próteses auditivas com tecnologia do tipo B ou C segundo a portaria SAS nº587, de 07 de outubro de 2004. Nesta pesquisa foram analisados os seguintes itens do prontuário dos pacientes: resultados obtidos no ganho de inserção, no ganho funcional e no Questionário Internacional – Aparelho de Amplificação Sonora Individual. Após a análise dos resultados verificou-se que a prótese mais adaptada foi do tipo retroauricular com tecnologia B. Com relação aos resultados obtidos na audiometria com e sem prótese auditiva, observou-se maiores ganhos para frequências altas, assim como para os resultados obtidos na mensuração com microfone sonda. Os achados não mostraram correlações significantes entre a satisfação e os resultados obtidos nas mensurações com microfone sonda, assim como no ganho funcional. Referente à tecnologia da prótese auditiva, os resultados mostraram que ambos os grupos mostraram-se satisfeitos com seus dispositivos. Se o fonoaudiólogo faz escolhas criteriosas de acordo com as características audiológicas e necessidades auditivas do paciente, este se mostrará satisfeito ao final do processo independente da quantidade de ganho acústico.The natural process of aging causes damage in various functions of the body human, among which is the hearing. The presence of hearing loss reflects negative consequences for quality of life and in this case the hearing aids become strong allies to minimize the impacts of hearing loss in elderly´s life. The process of selection and adaptation of the hearing aids is fundamental for ensure users the best use of their residual hearing. This research aimed to characterize the process of selection and adaptation of hearing aids for older concerning the verification and validation of results. This is a retrospective and transversal study in which the medical records of 35 elderly hearing aid wears attended the Program for Health Care Hearing were analyzed. The research has realized in the Laboratory Studies of Voice and Hearing of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Were included in the research older aged 60 to 80 years suffering of sensorineural hearing loss mild to moderately severe bilateral, effective wears of hearing aids with type B or C to technology of according ordinance SAS nº587 of October 7, 2004. In this research the following items from patients' medical records were analyzed: results obtained in the insertion gain, in the functional gain and in the International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids. After the analysis of results it was found that the most adapted hearing aids was the behind the ear type with B technology. Regarding the results obtained in audiometry with and without hearing aids, it was observed greater gains for high frequencies, as well as the results obtained with the probe microphone measurement. The findings showed no significant correlations between satisfaction and results on measurements with probe microphone, as well as the functional gain. Relating to hearing aid technology, the results showed that both groups were satisfied with their devices.
