The importance of implementing the Poka-Yoke method in industries is the pursuit of quality excellence and the reduction of process failures, resulting in a competitive differential. This study aimed to present the literature approach of how the Poka-Yoke method can help reduce costs in industrial production processes. Thus, a bibliographic review was conducted by means of the survey of contents in the databases of Scielo and Google Academic from 1996 to 2018. The study carried out through the literature review suggests that the Poka-Yoke method of the Toyota System of (STP), is an efficient tool that, based on reduced costs of industrial processes, increases the profitability of companies that deploy Poka-Yoke devices in their processes, bringing benefits immediately and others in the long term, leading companies to a more secure, where their processes become more stable, fast and organized, offering high-quality production lines aimed at reducing losses and excellence in their processes and products
