Resumo: During the years 1952-1953, the journalist-novelist Maria Archer attends in Lisboa to the different proceedings that the Estado Novo institutes against the retired captain Henrique Galvão in front of a military jurisdiction for a presume conspiracy against the power. Several manuscript leaves concerning reports of audience, that Maria Archer wanted to publish, are confiscated by the PIDE (International Police and Defence of the State). Following this exaction, the novelist decides to go in exile to Brazil where she publishes the work dedicated to the proceedings under the title Os últimos dias do fascismo português (São Paulo, 1959). The writing of Maria Archer is characterized by a continuous use of metaphors amongst which the authors privileges the theatrical metaphor: the Court is for her a tragic theater where is played “a drama de grande classe judiciária” to which she attends from the wings. In the meticulous description of the audiences, the political language built by Maria Archer, trough lapidary comments, is articulated like this of an authentic woman of letters engaged in a fight against the dictatorship. The deeply analyse of the metaphoric style will make able to account better for the desperate resistance that Maria Archer opposed by her writing to a fascist form of government who, leaning on its political police, its Secretary of National Propaganda (SPN) and its Commission of censorship, denied all forms of liberty of expression, even if cultural.
