Resumo: Objective: To know situations of violence suffered by women in abortion. Method: Qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research carried out in public maternity hospitals in Juazeiro-BA and Petrolina-PE. The semistructured interview and analysis of the thematic content for data analysis were used. Results: It was identified that the main situations of obstetric violence suffered by women were due to obstacles in communication: verbal abuse and lack of clarification about their health condition, procedures and examinations. In addition to the complaint of overcrowding that, not so rare, culminated in delay in care and neglect. Conclusion: It is imperative that the maternities cited in this study invest in continuing education focused on ethical and human care, ensuring the human and reproductive rights of women in abortion.
