Resumo: | Objective: To characterize the profile of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis on the use of medications, potential drug interactions and the use of alternative therapies. Method: A cross-sectional study with RA patients, older than 18 years, both sexes. The collection was performed on January, 2015. Results: A total of 31 patients were interviewed, most of them male (61.29%). The mean number of medications used per patient was 5.23 ± 2.80, and the mean number of interactions per patient was 2.51 ± 2.58, with an association between the medications administered and the higher chances of interactions. It was verified that 80.65% do not use non-prescription medicines and 45.16% do some kind of complementary treatment. Conclusion: It was verified that the majority of the interviewees makes use of polypharmacy and susceptible to drug interactions, with little adherence to complementary treatments. Thus, patients with RA need to be followed up by health professionals, seeking to maximize the benefits of treatment and minimize risks. |
