Resumo: This study aimed to evaluate the referral and counter-referral of elderly people with osteoporosis between a specialized geriatric care center and a specialist in geriatrics and primary health care (PHC). The secondary study developed had two perspectives of analysis: 1) of the patient, made from a coordination with data collection and complementary data collection; 2) Manager of the manager, using telephones, managers of the Basic Health Units (BHU). There were demographic, pharmacotherapeutic, clinical, and service-related variables. A total of 391 patients participated in the study and received their care plan with an indication for the management of osteoporosis. However, 35.3% were not using medication at the time of the interview. Of the total, there is a drop of 31.2% and almost no drop in the last half of life had already shown any extension. For 9.0% of the patients, there was a counter-referral, that is, they had been called to the BHU after attending secondary care. Only 34.3% of patients had the care plan fully implemented. Most patients seen are expected to return to the BHU after receiving the care plan, but just over half agree that its implementation is fully feasible. The main reasons for this are the lack of social/family support or social vulnerability and the lack of professionals in the Family Health Support Centers. Family and health care-related social strategies can be useful to ensure full implementation of care plans for elderly people with osteoporosis.

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2023-02-23info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/6940110.5902/2236583469401Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria). 2022, v. 48, n. 1Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria). 2022, v. 48, n. 12236-58340103-4499reponame:Saúde (Santa Maria)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMporhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/69401/51605Copyright (c) 2023 RONARA CAMILA DE SOUZA GROIA VELOSO, FERNANDA CAMPOS PINHEIRO, MARIANA MARTINS GONZAGA DO NASCIMENTO, CRISTINA MARIANO RUASinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCAMILA DE SOUZA GROIA VELOSO, RONARACAMPOS PINHEIRO, FERNANDA MARTINS GONZAGA DO NASCIMENTO, MARIANA MARIANO RUAS, CRISTINA 2023-02-23T18:12:47Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/69401Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaudePUBhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/oairevistasaude.ufsm@gmail.com || amanda.revsaude@gmail.com || beatriz.revsaude@gmail.com2236-58342236-5834opendoar:2023-02-23T18:12:47Saúde (Santa Maria) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)false
